RCM Updates: New Models, New Revenue, New Tools
EDPMA's Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Workshop in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 4th and 5th, was a huge success. 60 attendees heard from presenters who shared the latest developments in revenue cycle management during the two-day workshop. Additionally, at least 200 more people joined EDPMA's live Twitter feed where we shared the session on Surprise Billing with the public.
On the first day, Bob Jasak presented new changes for the 2020 Medicare Final Rule and strategies on how emergency provider groups and revenue cycle managers can implement the Advanced APM Acute Unscheduled Care Model (AUCM). Dr. Alder and Ed Gaines presented an overview of activity around surprise billing and out-of-network (OON) reimbursement. Dr. Amy Mecozzi presented economic data helpful for advocacy and Dr. Caraballo recapped advocacy at the state level and the impact of OON laws that have already been implemented.
On the second day, Shanna Howe presented effective strategies on negotiating and contracting with payers. Dr. Ed Gaines, Mark Owen and Dr. Adler ended the workshop in lightening rounds on the latest RCM issues related to telehealth.
