EDPMA's Workshop Shares Tips on Collecting the Hard Dollars

The Collections Workshop in Dallas, Texas, in late September was a huge success. Over 70 registrants heard from presenters who shared great collections advice, including:
  • Greg Hufstetler shared a long list of tips for fighting unfair claims settlement practices that he gathered over his long and lofty career,
  • Nancy Dumas gave tips on collecting for freestanding emergency centers,
  • Bob Jasak (EDPMA's consultant), focused on likely changes to Medicare's Merit-Based Incentive Payment System,
  • Ed Gaines focused on collecting from the patient/guarantor,
  • Stockton Clemmons discussed the implications of waiving cost-sharing,
  • Rachel Gonter addressed Anthem-styled non-emergency diagnosis lists and prudent layperson strategies,
  • Mark Owen gave tips on avoiding issues with TCPA and FDCPA,
  • EDPMA and ACEP staff updated attendees on government activity impacting collections,
  • one panel discussed software analytics for back-end collections,
  • another panel discussed reports for analysing and collecting receivables, and
  • a final panel summarized the tips given over the two-day workshop.
