Committees

EDPMA members are invited to join the EDPMA committees that are most relevant to their business and area of expertise. EDPMA accomplishes the majority of its advocacy and member education through its committees which are comprised of some of the most expert EDPMA members as well as those wishing to learn about or get involved with new issues. To have an employee of your member company get involved with a particular committee, send EDPMA an email including the representatives name, title, phone number, and email address and we will be pleased to assist you. All additions to the committees and/or their distribution lists may be subject to the approval of the committee Chair.

Committees
Federal Health Policy (FHPC) Co-Chairs: Jim Kolka, DO and Randy Pilgrim, MD
EDPMAs Federal Health Policy Committee (FHPC) tackles the rules, regulations, and proposed policies behind the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), and other key legislative and regulatory issues occurring at the federal level. The FHPC guides the associations position on federal health policy issues and works alongside other committees and EDPMA Leadership to weigh in on issues that will affect EDPMA members, emergency medicine, and the patients that our members serve every day.
State Regulatory and Insurance (SR&IC) Co-Chairs: Andrea Brault, MD, Gwen Guillotte, and Beth Cesta
While EDPMA is a national organization, our members are out there in the states dealing with regulatory and insurance issues such as third party assignment of benefits and state legislative initiatives on balance billing.  EDPMA members alert one another through the SR&IC committee to critical issues happening in their states and, when appropriate, EDPMA takes action to advocate at the state level on those issues that affect our industry.  We also hope to connect members in states that have fought managed care battles at the state issues in the past with those that are fighting the same battles at the present in order to improve our members own efficacy at state legislative advocacy.

Quality, Value & Performance (QVPC)

Chair: Joe Danna, MD
EDPMAs Quality gurus reside on our Quality, Value, and Performance committee.  The QVPC takes the lead on all things quality, measures, and value-based purchasing.  This is the group that flags issues in the measure development processes for emergency medicine- with a particular focus on how a particular measure will be implemented and documented in the ED and then extracted and reported by billing and coding personnel.
Provider Enrollment (PEC)
Chair: Derise Woods and Tammy Davis
EDPMAs Provider Enrollment Committee connects members and their employees that focus on enrolling providers in Medicare and Medicaid.  This watch-dog group identifies issues arising in the complex provider enrollment systems and aims to work with CMS and other policy makers or partners in order to improve the current provider enrollment system for all users, but especially for emergency medicine, physician groups, and ED billing companies.
Coding & Documentation (C&DC) Co-Chairs: John Turner, MD, FACEP, PhD and Mark Owen

EDPMAs Coding and Documentation Committee (C&DC) Force keeps our members apprised of ongoing documentation issues affecting emergency medicine as well as the billing, coding, and other companies affected by documentation issues.  From PQRI to hydration codes, this is the group to join if you aspire to be a coding & documentation guru.
